UNO: 86 Edition
UNO: 86 Edition is a special edition reimagining of the classic UNO card game, inspired by the anime 86. This project blends the fast-paced, strategic gameplay of UNO with the emotional depth, dystopian themes, and striking visual identity of the 86 universe.
Designed for both anime fans and casual players, the deck incorporates key characters, factions, and narrative elements from 86. Traditional UNO colors are reinterpreted to reflect the tones of the series steel gray, crimson, muted blue, and military-inspired palettes while action cards are redesigned to symbolize pivotal themes such as command shifts, battlefield tactics, and survival.

DESIGN ELEMENTS
Taking inspiration from the show, I decided to incorporate the 86 logo’s font, DIN condensed into the design system. As a secondary type face, I chose BD Colonious for the numbers on the cards to give it a unique take on the universe’s technological aspect.
The colors were changed to match the five colored flag in the show. In order to simplify it to keep the 4 main colors, black would act as the wild cards while the remaining four would be the card’s colors.
The cards designs themselves would be modeled after keycards. To symbolize the universe’s technological aspect in general as well as highlight the militaristic nature of the characters, the colored cards would be designs to act as digital cards. Almost acting like a screen. The wildcards would emulate the five colored flag and have a traditional plastic keycard design, symbolizing the nation of San Magnolia’s blind superiority.
